In Vietnam, up to now, through epidemiological monitoring of the SARS-CoV-2 virus, there has been no recorded case of COVID-19 with the new Omicron strain.
To proactively control the COVID-19 epidemic situation in the country and at the same time prevent the risk of entry and spread of the new Omicron strain into our country from countries that have recorded and spread the new strain, the Ministry of Health directed the surveillance system to strengthen monitoring of the COVID-19 epidemic to detect early unusual signs of COVID-19 outbreaks;
Request the Institutes of Hygiene and Epidemiology/Pasteur to proactively conduct genetic sequencing of cases suspected of being infected with new strains, especially cases with an epidemiological history from countries in the Southern Africa region.
